Who was Carl Benz?
Carl Benz was born 25 November 1844 in
Karlsruhe, Baden (Germany).
He was a German mechanical engineer who
invented world’s first practical automobile. He died in 1929 at the aged of 84
years.
What does History say?
The first self-powered road vehicles were run
by steam engines. There is image of one person come in our mind that Nicolas
Joseph who built the automobile in 1769 that is recognized by the British Royal
Automobile Club as being first. So, why do many books say that the automobile
was invented by either Gottlieb Daimler or Carl Benz?
It is
because both Daimler and Benz invented highly successful and practical gasoline-powder
vehicles whose working function was similar to modern vehicle that we use today.
The Beginnings of Carl Benz:-
Carl Benz started his first firm in 1871,
Mannheim with his partner August Ritter. During this time he tried to manufacture
engine after the long struggle he got fruitful result in the form of two stroke
engine. For his engine he granted basic patents.
In 1883, He again set up firm “Benz & Cie (company’s
name) with the help of financial supporter. The new company spread his business
and also gave him financial security.
On
January 29, 1886, Benz received the first patent “DRP No. 37435”-(the birth
certificate of the automobile) for his gas-fueled car that was a three wheeler.
Finally in 1990 Benz & Cie became Germany’s
second-largest engine factory. By the end of century it had grown and become
world’s leading automobile manufacture.
